THE
LIFESTYLE LIFT FOUNDATION
In 2006, Lifestyle Lift founder and director, Doctor David
Kent applied his knowledge and experience to help children
around the world by establishing the
Lifestyle
Lift Foundation. The Lifestyle Lift Foundation is
a non-profit organization designated to help children
who were born with birth defects, specifically those
with Hemangioma.
Hemangioma is a benign tumor that usually takes form in the
shape of a ball, and occasionally in a flatter mat. It is
formed by a collection of excess blood vessels in an area.
Since blood vessel cells are typically transparent in thin
smooth muscle cells, Hemangiomas usually appear as the
color of the blood that runs through them. If the blood
contains a great amount of oxygen, or if it is more
arterial, the color is often bright red. If the color is
dark, the blood is usually low in oxygen, venous or
possibly blood has stopped flowing.
To have propagating Hemangiomas removed surgically is a
very hazardous procedure because of the existing risk of
hemorrhage and damage to vital structures linked with them
(such as the head, neck); therefore, only specially trained
surgeons should be performing the procedure.
Lifestyle Lift Foundation provides early excision of the
Hemangioma utilizing new advancements in surgical
instruments that cauterize while cutting lessen the risk of
an hemorrhage. In getting an early excision, someone’s life
or vision can be saved, and the negative psychosocial
effects associated with a cosmetically disfiguring lesion
during the course of early childhood can be reduced. In
addition to early excision, other benefits to having the
procedure done include the use of naturally expanded skin
to aid in primary closure and the ability to occupy a
fairly avascular tissue plane surrounding actively growing
Hemangiomas.
In recognizing and removing the benign tumor at an early
stage in life, Doctor Kent’s organization is devoted to
helping children with Hemangioma. The children the
organization has helped and will help can either not afford
the treatments or do not have access to treatment in their
communities. The referrals of each patient are made by the
parents themselves, seeking treatment for their children.
The Lifestyle Lift Foundation believes that a healthy child
is ultimately a happy child.
